Nikon Middle East & Africa FZE is pleased to announce that Nikon digital SLR cameras, the D5 and D500, have been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design is a world-class award presented to products released over the past two years that exhibit superiority in terms of a total of nine aspects, including innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecology, and durability.

2016 is the 61st time the Red Dot Award: Product Design has been held. Winning products, selected from roughly 5,200 entries from 57 countries around the world will be on display at a special exhibition, from July 5 to July 31, 2016 at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen Germany.

About the Nikon D5

The D5 is Nikon's latest FX-format flagship DSLR.  It offers superior performance that begins with a markedly improved ability to track moving subjects and notably better image quality at high sensitivities, as well as the ability to respond to a wide variety of scenes and subjects.  Equipped with a next-generation, 153-point autofocus (AF) system and offering high-speed, approximately 12-fps*1 continuous shooting performance (with AF and AE tracking), the camera is capable of accurate capture of the intended subject under a variety of circumstances. In addition, the new Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor and new EXPEED 5 image-processing engine have enabled support for the highest standard sensitivity in Nikon's history, ISO 102400, as well superior high-sensitivity performance not only with capture of still images, but also with recording of newly supported 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) movies.

About the Nikon D500

The D500 is Nikon's new flagship DX-format digital SLR camera.  It is equipped with the same next-generation, 153-point AF system built into the D5, and supports captures of the intended subject with high-speed, approximately 10-fps*2 continuous shooting. Adoption of the new EXPEED 5 image-processing engine and a new Nikon DX-format CMOS sensor ensure superior image quality over a broad range of standard sensitivities, from ISO 100 to 51200, with recording of both still images and movies. What's more, the camera responds to the needs of professionals with support for 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) movie recording, as well as SnapBridge, an app that enables seamless connection of the camera to a smart device*3.
