New rules to improve road safety: Traffic chief

The Traffic Department will not show any leniency in implementing new regulations, especially Article 69 of the law pertaining to drifting/stunt driving, said Director of the Traffic Department Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Zahrani.

The Council of Ministers on Monday amended a number of Articles in the Traffic Law.

Al-Zahrani said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday that the decision to amend the Traffic Law was taken after extensive studies on how to enhance road safety.

The decision to amend Traffic Law guarantees the protection of the rights of vehicle owners, enhances traffic safety and safeguards the lives and properties from mischief makers, he said.

Al-Zahrani thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, and Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman on the approval of the new amendments to the Traffic Law.

He urged all the people to strictly abide by the traffic rules and regulations.
