The new Khorfakkan Corniche burst into colour on Friday in celebration of the UAE’s 45th National Day, where residents and visitors came together to honour the nation and the country’s leadership.
A group of elite Emirati pilots from the UAE Armed Forces staged a spectacular air show, where the national air display team, Al Fursan, lit up the skies with the colours of the UAE’s flag.
A stunning skydiving show also helped to mark the occasion, organised under the theme ‘Accomplishments of A Country… Rise Of A Nation’, ahead of the National Day that falls on December 2.
Cultural events including an operetta, poetry recitals, folklore and patriotic songs played a part in the proceedings, with poets Ahmad Al Zarouni and Salem Al Kaabi reciting their best-loved works, the Al Mazyoud Band, Omama Bint Abi Talib School for Girls, Khor Fakkan School, Emirates Circus and the Children’s Centre, all performing for the audiences.
A host of traditional dhows and wooden ships carrying UAE’s flags took to the sea, while several expert horsemen stood alongside the beach to complete the celebrations of four and a half decades of ongoing accomplishments achieved by the UAE.
