My City Centre Nasseriya Hosts Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation Art Exhibition in celebration of World Heart Day

Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa, hosted the Nasheet Competition Art Exhibition, held in honour of the World Health Day. This was part of S.M.A.R.T. initiative, the Majid Al Futtaim’s Charity Foundation’s Health Awareness Program, showcasing the work of students that won the contest, held at My City Centre Nasseriya in Sharjah. The four-day exhibition, which started 29th September, displayed paintings that were synonymous to the health awareness campaign.

The art exhibition, organised at My City Centre Nasseriya, allowed participating students from private schools in Sharjah to present their artistic skills while promoting healthy lifestyle.  The most favoured pieces from numerous artworks, received by a panel of judges, reflected the creative minds of this generation.

Professor Najib Al Khaja, CEO at Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation, commented that the campaign reached more than 50,000 students, of all academic stages, across the U.A.E. They plan to double that figure by means of expanding to all Emirates in the next stage.

“The art exhibition coincides with the World Health Day and embodies the cooperation between My City Centre Nasseriya, Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation and the Ministry of Education and its competent departments; Ministry of Health and several other UAE official institutions. The Foundation aspires to expand this fruitful partnership to other institutions in the future,” Professor Al Khaja said. My City Centre Nasseriya endeavours to provide a platform where community activities are organised to involve and attract the diverse visitors. “This was a great opportunity to engage with the people in the area and make an important issue known. With the great number of people continuously visiting My City Centre Nasseriya, we felt that it would be an ideal location to host the art exhibition for the students and the Foundation alike” said Hamad Al Lawati, Community Malls Manager at My City Centre Nasseriya.

My City Centre Nasseriya welcomed the Nasheet Health Awareness campaign to further emphasise the exhibition shedding light on the importance of healthy eating through dramatic booth displays that were shocking to observe. In addition, the mall also provided healthy meals to participating students when they were showcasing their work in the mall. The aim of the S.M.A.R.T team was to spread awareness and knowledge about the consequences of unbalanced and unhealthy diets. The event coupled with supporting movements were well-received by students, visitors and shoppers at My City Centre Nasseriya.

Committed to community partnership activities, My City Centre Nasseriya continues to host several community initiatives such as the annual ‘Make A Difference This Ramadan’, which has extended its reach this year to 17 Majid Al Futtaim malls throughout the region. ‘Feel The Beat’ was another health focused event, empowering female guests by allowing them to receive heart screening tests in the mall. The key message of the campaign was to encourage regular heart check-ups. Majid Al Futtaim continuously strives to create great moments for everyone, everyday.
