Mr. Rapil Zhoshybayev paid a working visit to Abu-Dhabi sustainability week

On January 11-14, the Kazakh delegation led by the Chairman of the International Green Technologies and Investments Center Mr. Rapil Zhoshybayev paid a working visit to Abu-Dhabi sustainability week. The event happened within the framework of 9th Session of International Renewable Energy Agency and World Future Energy Summit. 

At present, IRENA has 160 members (159 States and the European Union), and 24 additional countries in the accession process and actively engaged. Membership in the Agency provides an opportunity for States to exchange experience in the development of renewable energy sources (RES) at the national level and to participate in the development of joint approaches addressing emerging issues.

Kazakhstan, which has been a member of the organization since 2013, was elected to the credentials Committee, which is one of the key bodies consisting of representatives of 9 member States of IRENA. Bilateral talks between Rapil Zhoshybayev and General Director of IRENA  Adnan Amin were held in order to facilitate exchange of experience, using the expertise of international agencies and the provision of financial and technical assistance towards implementing projects in Kazakhstan.

 Following the talks, the leaders signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the implementation of the agreements, which was logical continuation of the policy on the development of renewable energy in Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of the 9th IRENA Assembly, the heads of delegations of the member States of the organization made presentations. The topics touched issues on the need of further expansion of the use of renewable energy in the world, and insuring broad access to the latest technologies that contribute to the international fight against energy poverty. Representatives of small island countries expressed concern about the threat of global warming and rising ocean levels, which could lead to the disappearance of these countries, and called on the world community to develop RES more actively. On 14 January, the annual World summit of the future energy was also opened, which was attended by heads of state and government, prominent political and public figures, representatives of the scientific and business community, contributing to the development of green world economy. The purpose of the summit was to demonstrate the need for the rapid transition to the use of clean sustainable energy to the world community.

The summit was organized by the well-known Arab company Masdar, which operates in the field of renewable energy and builds the eponymous satellite city around the capital, powered only by clean energy.

 The head of the Kazakhstan center held a meeting with the General Director of the company for Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Russia Ahmed al Abadi, during which the parties expressed interest in establishing close cooperation and promotion of joint investment projects in the field of renewable energy, cooperation in scientific and educational programs, exchange of experience in research work. A conclusion was reached to agree on joint cooperation.
