Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure highlights strategic initiatives at World Utilities Congress

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) showcases the latest technologies that enhance the efficiency of demand management and energy and water use in the third edition of the World Utilities Congress.

 

The Ministry, through its participation in the congress, highlights its strategic initiatives and pioneering projects that seek to accelerate the energy transition and achieve water security as a key resource for sustainable development.

 

Moreover, MoEI is shedding light on its ambitious strategies that support the UAE’s net-zero by 2050 target. These include the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to triple the share of renewable energy by 2030, surge the share of installed clean energy capacity in the total energy mix to 30% by 2030, and increase the renewables capacity to 14 GW by 2030.

 

It also is highlighting the National Hydrogen Strategy that aims at making the UAE one of the leading countries in hydrogen production by 2031 and the UAE’s National Water and Energy Demand Side Management Programme 2050 that is a critical initiative aimed at reducing resource consumption, targeting a 40% reduction in energy use and a 51% reduction in water use by 2050, compared to business-as-usual scenarios.

 

Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at MoEI, said that the congress 2024 is a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge among elite field experts from across the world. It highlights the latest technologies and innovative solutions to common energy and water challenges.”

 

He noted that MoEI will continue to adopt trailblasing energy and water tech solutions to enhance the UAE’s status as a global sustainability leader. He added, “In light of global challenges, adopting more sustainable energy and water solutions has become a necessity. Tackling climate change requires more investment in clean energy and energy efficiency technologies to reduce the carbon footprint and improve the quality of life.”
