Middle East Media Expert Dr Sulaiman Al-Hattlan Joins Sky News Arabia

Dr Sulaiman Al-Hattlan, a renowned media personality in the Middle East region, has joined the Sky News Arabia team, with effect from 1 October, 2015.

 

Commenting on his appointment, Nart Bouran, Head of Sky News Arabia, said: “We are confident Dr Sulaiman Al-Hattlan will prove an important value addition to our team, which comprises over 500 media personnel and experts in 26 bureaus across the Arab world and globally. His expertise in presenting innovative media content on television is truly invaluable and it is exciting to have him on-board our latest format – details of which will be announced soon.”

 

For his part, Dr Sulaiman Al-Hattlan said: “I am very pleased to join Sky News Arabia, a leading news network that has managed to compete in the media landscape within just a few years of its launch thanks to its unique media content and up-to-date news coverage. The network has been very successful in attracting Arab audiences due to its commitment to professional journalistic and ethical standards and its continuous efforts to break the news from the heart of the action.”

 

He added: “I will do my best to contribute to the network’s success in becoming the number one media source that seeks to serve Arab societies and support their interests. I hope that as with all my past engagements, my new endeavor will live up to the audience expectations.”

 

In his previous capacities, Dr Sulaiman Al-Hattlan was Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Arabia, and the CEO of Arab Strategy Forum in Dubai. He has also presented ‘Talk of the Gulf’ show on Alhurra channel, and ‘Al-Muntada’ show on Dubai TV. A prolific writer, his articles and op-eds have been published in leading Arabic and international newspapers such as the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Al-Hayat, and Asharq Al-Awsat.

 

Al-Hattlan has earned higher academic degrees from prestigious universities such as Georgetown and Harvard. He also published several books, the latest of which is ‘Where to Blow up Yourself this Evening’ in which he examines issues such as radicalism, takfeer (excommunication), and violence in the Arab world. He is a member of the editorial board of the New York-based World Policy Journal.
