Microsoft today showed the region’s oil and gas organisations the power of digital transformation to engage, empower and optimise, at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2017.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi; ADIPEC 2017 runs until 16 November attracting more than 95,000 visitors from around the world. In its debut, Microsoft is participating as the ‘Strategic Digital Transformation Partner’, to showcase real life industry 4.0 principles across every stage of the oil and gas value chain. The Company is also hosting an Oil and Gas Solution Demo Theatre, where visitors can get first-hand experience of the company’s industry-specific solutions, as well as those of its partners.

A major highlight at Microsoft’s stand is the Connected Field Service solution, that has strong relevance to the oil and gas sector. The solution empowers field workers at all levels to move to a proactive and predictive service model, leveraging connected devices and machine learning capabilities to combine remote monitoring, digital services, and predictive maintenance.
“The Connected Field Service solution gives a broader picture of operations to optimize resources, improve scheduling through field service and field management software, making the most of employee productivity and resolving issues faster.” Explained Saleh. “Organizations can capture and analyze data from connected devices and with the help of Azure IoT Suite, workers can receive real-time alerts from devices—including places that were previously difficult to monitor”
During ADIPEC, Microsoft senior executives and industry experts will also be participating in various conferences such as Security in Energy, C-Suite Dialogues and Global Downstream Business Leaders Panel to share insights on the latest trends and advancements in oil and gas.
Microsoft’s strategic industry partners are exhibiting from the same stand. Platinum Partner PROS is showcasing how industry players can drive margin growth through the company's Dynamic Pricing solution. US-based global technology consultancy firm Blackstone eIT (Gold Partner) is demonstrating its Chatbot, Emo Scanner, Identity Validator and a Smart Tracker for IoT Security. GIS specialist Esri (Gold Partner) is showing attendees how it uses the "Science of Where" to help oil and gas companies make knowledge-based decisions regarding everything from resource extraction to ensuring HSE compliance.
US software company Hexagon PPM (Gold Partner) conducted a live solutions-demo at Microsoft’s stand using Microsoft HoloLens and Surface Hub, and showing how it helps industry professionals collaborate more closely and effectively, using 3D modelling and visualisation; engineering and schematics; leading-edge information management; materials management and project controls; and enterprise-level analytics. And Bentley Systems (Gold Partner) will showcase comprehensive software solutions for advancing the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure to empower multi-disciplined engineering teams gain visibility and insight into project execution, and better manage the performance of operating assets.
