MEDICAL INFECTIOUS WASTE (MIW): MOBILITY AND SIMPLICITY IN THE PROCESSING AND DISPOSAL, THANKS TO STERIGERMS

STERIGERMS manufactures mobile machines for an on-site neutralisation of medical infectious waste (MIW), and has a strong 15 years industrial experience in this field. All that is needed to operate a STERIGERMS machine is a standard power outlet. In other terms, STERIGERMS is unique as it does not need any water or chemicals or any other process to treat MIW. From 29 January to 1 February 2018, STERIGERMS will be taking part in the Arab Health conference, where it will be exhibiting its 60-litre at the France Pavilion.

During the NEUTRALISATION CYCLE, the hazardous waste is first of all placed in a Steribag barrier bag. It is then put into the machine and the programmable controller guides the user's actions with every safety precaution possible: lid locking, thermal safety valve, etc. Once the MIW has been neutralised in this way, it can be disposed of directly through the household waste stream. In addition, treated volumes will have been reduced by 80%.

The performance of the machines has been officially tested and found to comply with French standard NF – T 72-180.

STRAIGHTFORWARD INSTALLATION AND LOCAL PROCESSING: All it takes is a power outlet. In addition, users have a lot of leeway in terms of where to put the machines which, due to their size, weight and the fact that they are mounted on casters, are easy to move around. Local processing eliminates the risks associated with handling of MIW, as well as transportation costs.

ECO-FRIENDLY: No liquid or gas to dispose of. There are no pipes to fit, and all risk of pollution is ruled out. Compacting the waste into ‘cakes’ reduces the volume to be processed by a factor of ten.
