Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, the dedicated cinema arm of Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, today held the first screening of an Egyptian film in Saudi Arabia with the action comedy hit, “El Badla”.
At a running time of 100 minutes, the plot revolves around a college student played by Tamer Hosny, who attends a costume party dressed as a police officer. Audience members are sure to be entertained as Tamer finds himself in a tricky situation after his plan backfires, and he’s instead the subject of a criminal investigation for false impersonation.
Cameron Mitchell, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas commented “Egypt’s rich history of producing quality entertainment has resulted in a high demand for their product not only in Saudi Arabia but throughout the region. We are proud to be the first operator that brings Egyptian content to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and we will continue to offer a range of movies that appeals to a variety of cultures that we cater to.”
With this milestone, VOX Cinemas builds on its reputation of bringing new genres of entertainment to Saudi Arabia. This was recently demonstrated when the company screened “Kaala”, the first Indian movie in Saudi Arabia which attracted a large audience.
