M Hotel Downtown by Millennium goes dark as it joins the whole world in shining a light on environmental conservation this 24 March for Earth Hour 2018. The hotel will illuminate a candle-lit march towards creating an environmental impact in support to the global event created by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) which seeks to raise awareness and defy the threats of climate change.
By 8:30 pm, M Hotel Downtown by Millennium will be taking extensive measures by turning off all lights in an hour-long pledge to save energy. Hotel members, guests and gastronomes will witness a gleaming candle-lit setting across expanses such as the lobby, restaurant and all external areas of the property.
Cornelia Erhardt, the hotel’s General Manager said, “Earth Hour represents M Hotel Downtown by Millennium’s philosophy of being an environmental-friendly property that seeks to drive change in any way that we can to counter global warming and its effects. We are delighted to join the whole city of Dubai in recognizing the importance of social responsibility and preserving our natural resources through minimizing our impact on the environment during this day, as well as throughout the years to come.
An advocate of sustainability, Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA has led its entire hospitality collection in forming initiatives on green developments and technologies, with a record of a 4.1 ton carbon footprint reduction during last year’s Earth Hour commemoration. The group plans to strengthen its energy consumption schemes this year through the reduced use of lights, power and water.
