Love Jeddah? Keep it clean, segregate waste at source

In a landmark decision, the Jeddah Municipality has launched a project to segregate waste at source in eight districts, with the motto: “I love Jeddah. I will keep it clean.”
As part of the project, under the auspices of Mayor Hani Abu Ras, three bins of different colors — red, blue and green — with instructions on their use will be provided.

This will not only help in saving the environment, but also
contribute to the national economy through recycling that will see waste transformed into organic fuel, fertilizer and other raw material, Ahmed Mahnabi, Under-Secretary for services at the municipality, said.

The eight districts where garbage will be segregated at waste are: Al-Naeem, Al-Minar, Al–Shati, Al-Andalus, Al-Jawad, Al- Sulimania and Prince Fawaz.
Mahnabi urged the public to throw garbage according to the instructions on the bin, so that the municipality trucks can collect them in separate compartments.
Sami Khalf, General Manager, glass bottles, plastic material, bags, magazines and newspapers will be recycled, in addition to the recovery of aluminum material which can be recycled to manufacture auto parts.

He said the project will help sustainable development.
