Longines elegantly celebrates the 20th edition of the Dubai World Cup

Longines celebrated the 20th edition of the Dubai World Cup on Saturday 28 March 2015. As the Official Timekeeper of this event and Presenting Partner of one of its highlights, the Dubai Sheema Classic presented by Longines, the Swiss watch brand honoured the winners of this year’s Dubai World Cup raceday as well as Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aaron Kwok with a special 20-timepiece-limited edition of the Conquest Classic Moonphase. In addition, Ana Pribylova, winner of the Longines Most Elegant Lady prize, and Marlon Weir, winner of the Best Dressed Man prize, were also presented with refined Longines watches.

In line with its values, namely elegance, tradition and performance, Longines is proud to be associated with the Dubai World Cup. This year was very special since this race was celebrating its 20th edition. Indeed, these past two decades have seen the Dubai World Cup entering the legend and becoming a much-awaited event for all top racing aficionados and elegant-event goers.

To mark this unique celebration, the winners of this year’s Dubai World Cup, among which were His Highness the Aga Khan, Alain de Royer-Dupré and Christophe Soumillon, respectively winning owner, trainer and jockey of the 2015 Dubai Sheema Classic presented by Longines, as well as H.E.Sh. Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Saeed bin Suroor and William Buick, respectively winning owner, trainer and jockey of the 2015 Dubai World Cup, and Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aaron Kwok were presented with a special 20-timepiece-limited edition of the Conquest Classic Moonphase from the hands of Mr. Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President of Longines and Head of International Marketing and Mr. Patrick Aoun, Regional Brand Manager Longines Middle East. The sophistication of this rose gold chronograph, including a moonphase display, makes it an eminently refined timepiece and echoes the excellence and elegance of the stars of the equestrian universe.

In addition, this exceptional raceday witnessed the victory of Ana Pribylova at the Longines Most Elegant Lady prize and Marlon Weir at the Best Dressed Man prize. They were honoured by receiving refined Longines watches as well.

Longines’ passion for equestrian sport dates back to 1878, when it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. Seen on the racetracks as early as 1881 and extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers, this model enabled its user to time performances to the seconds. In addition, the Swiss watch brand has been partnering with show jumping events since 1912.

Longines has been based at Saint-Imier in Switzerland since 1832. Its watchmaking expertise reflects a strong devotion to tradition, elegance and performance. Longines has generations of experience as official timekeeper of world championships and as partner of international sports federation. Known for the elegance of its timepieces, Longines is a member of the Swatch Group Ltd, the World’s leading manufacturer of horological products. With the winged hourglass as its emblem, the brand has outlets in over 140 countries.
