King urges Islamic scholars to stand united in face of adverse campaign

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman affirmed that Saudi Arabia, with its approach of moderation, will continue fulfilling its commitments and initiatives to realize the hopes and aspirations of Muslims around the world.

He also called on Islamic scholars to stand united in confronting the fierce campaign being unleashed against their religion, morals, culture and civilization.

The King made the remarks in his opening speech at the International Islamic Unity Conference organized by the Muslim World League (MWL) in Makkah on Wednesday.

On behalf of the King, the speech was read out by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

In his address to the Islamic scholars attending the conference, the King underscored that it is their duty to heal the rift threatening the Islamic Ummah, as well as to renounce discord, close their ranks.

“We hope that firm knowledge will be used to dispel the rifts in the Ummah and realize its unity and solidarity for the betterment of the entire humanity,” he said.

The Monarch also underlined the need to remove negativities and correct misconceptions about the divine religion as well as to extend bridges of dialogue, understanding and cooperation toward realizing harmony, accord and joint work.
