Metaverse, AI, Blockchain, and VR in healthcare are among KFSH&RC’s key focus areas
King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) announces its participation at the second edition of LEAP, Saudi Arabia's most prominent technology event, which is set to convene global innovators and disruptors in Riyadh between February 6-9.
Internationally ranked as Saudi Arabia's number one hospital and a primary supporter of Vision 2030's healthcare transformation goals, KFSH&RC will present trailblazing technologies that will drive the healthcare sector forward under the three main pillars: operational excellence, patient experience, and the quality of care.
Pillar 1: Operational excellence
KFSH&RC will present its state-of-the-art AI-driven systems that optimize operations and empower staff to efficiently manage and effectively cater to patient needs upon implementation. The AI systems have been developed to improve resource management, reduce patient waiting time, and promote operation room efficiency.
Pillar 2: Patient experience
KFSH&RC is set to introduce its strategic and seamless integration with the ever-evolving digital ecosystem to augment patient and staff experience. This includes a virtual reality program to aid children with autism in developing essential life skills, Metaverse adoption to reduce healthcare access limitations and enhance staff training, and Blockchain application as a hospital reward system for KFSH&RC's patients and staff.
Pillar 3: Quality of care
KFSH&RC will showcase methods to improve the quality and timeliness of care provided by utilizing the power of advanced technology. For example, KFSH&RC will address ways to optimize liver and renal segmentations, a process vital to transplant diagnosis and preparation, with the help of a novel AI-powered that will improve efficiency by assessing the volumetric calculations of respective organs.
Osama Alswailem, MD, MA, Chief Information Officer at KFSH&RC, commented: "KFSH&RC is proud to participate in LEAP, which showcases emerging technologies and their respective applications in various sectors. The recent technological revolution poses immense opportunities to further advance healthcare, and KFSH&RC has always been at the forefront of adapting and using cutting-edge technology. We look forward to sharing some of the technology and solutions KFSH&RC has developed and exchanging ideas with our peers to help shape a more agile and resilient healthcare model.”
During LEAP, KFSH&RC will engage with key healthcare stakeholders to collaborate in science and technology to improve patient outcomes.
