The Selection Committees for the King Faisal International Prize have started their 37th annual meetings across all five prize categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science. The meetings are being held during Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd of February at the offices of the King Faisal International Prize in Riyadh.

The winners’ names will be announced on the evening of Tuesday, February 3rd 2015, during a press conference held by His Royal Highness Prince Khaled Al-Faisal bin Abdul Aziz, CEO of the King Faisal Foundation and Chairman of Board of the King Faisal International Prize. Dinner followed by the press conference will take place in the ballroom of the Khazama Center, and will be attended by members of the selection committees in addition to a group of scientists and intellectuals.

The prize topics for the four scientific categories this year are:
• For Islamic Studies: Cultural Heritage of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwara
• For Arabic Language and Literature: Ventures Towards Arabisation of Scientific and Medical Matters • For Medicine: Intestinal Microflora and Human Health
• For Science: Chemistry
In addition, His Royal Highness Prince Khaled Al-Faisal also headed the selection committee that will select the winner of the Service to Islam prize on the evening of the 1st of February. The committee included:


HE Mr. Iyad Ameen Madani: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, HE Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmuhsen Al-Turki: Secretary General of the Muslim World League in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Sheikh Dr. Nasr Farid Mohamamd Wasel: Former Mufti of Egypt in Cairo, HE Professor Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Rabi’a: Former Member of the Supreme Judicial Council in Riyadh, Professor Khaled Mathkour Al-Mathkour: President of The Supreme Consultative Committee on the Implementation of the Provisions of Muslim Shari’a Law in Kuwait, Dr. Muzzammil Hussein Siddiqui: President of The Islamic Society Of Orange County, Garden Grove, California/ USA.
