Jeddah residents, visitors make the most of ‘cultural park’ programs

A large number of Jeddah residents and visitors, mainly families, thronged the “Jeddah cultural park” on Friday, the second day of the 10-day event.

Prince Khaled Al Faisal, emir of Makkah and adviser to the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, inaugurated the second edition of the event on Thursday evening. Jeddah Governor Prince Mishal Bin Majed, Jeddah Mayor Saleh Al-Turki and other senior officials attended the opening ceremony. Prince Khaled honored the agencies participating in the programs.

The event is being held at Al-Nawras Square, the largest waterfront on Jeddah Corniche, spreading over an area of about 42,000 square meters. More than 40 diverse cultural activities and programs are being held at the park, which is part of the Makkah Cultural Forum, with the theme of “How to be a role model?”

The park aims to make culture as one of the most attractive options in tourism promotion campaigns and offer interactive knowledge and cultural ambiance to all segments of the society. The “cultural park” includes a host of cultural activities such as electronic applications, interactive education, scientific innovations, skill festival and competitions.

As part of the “cultural park” during the mid-year vacation, many events in the cultural, social, scientific, technical, recreational and artistic areas, which appeal to various segments of the Jeddah society and its visitors, are being organized.

The events are organized by the Jeddah Mayoralty with the participation of several government departments and agencies such as Makkah emirate, ministries of education, Haj and Umrah, health, and media, King Abdulaziz University, Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, General Authority of Civil Aviation, Jeddah Islamic Port, Jeddah police and traffic departments, Civil Defense, National Guard, Passports Directorate, Jeddah University and Saudi Red Crescent Authority.

The Ministry of Haj and Umrah is taking part in the event with a pavilion and programs, titled “How can we develop our cities for Haj and Umrah services.” The ministry’s participation is part of an awareness campaign about its initiatives and future programs in serving Haj and Umrah pilgrims and that are in line with achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
