Jeddah Hosts the 10th Middle East Best of San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium

With the participation of more than 400 doctors and specialists in oncology globally and locally, Saudi Arabia will host the 10th Middle East Best of San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, which is organized by the Health Affairs at the Ministry of National Guard, during the period from 6th – 7th February at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Jeddah. 

Dr. Omalkhair Bint Abdullah Abu Al Khair, Head of the organizing Committee and Breast Cancer Consultant at King Abdulaziz Medical City in the National Guard, pointed out that this international symposium will shed light on informative details on latest updates of current guidelines and recent data on best practices with breast cancer therapies by providing more than 25 work papers and workshops, directed toward medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists interested in the treatment of patients with breast cancer. 

50 of the world's leading researchers in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer will join the conference with the aim to provide a favorable environment for the exchange of experiences between doctors and specialists, and learn about the latest developments in medicine in the treatment of breast tumors, as well as the latest research and new worksheets that display for the first time in this Middle East. 

The Symposium will reflect on adjuvant endocrine therapy in 2015, optimizing clinical outcomes and quality of life in breast reconstruction, neoadjuvant treatment of ER + breast cancer, new insights in breast radiation, HER2 positive breast cancer: insights from the Lab and clinic, triple negative breast cancer, and breast cancer predisposition: germline and risk reduction management.

It is well known that this Symposium is becoming one of most significant medical gathering to update all oncology health care providers with the recent advances which have an impact on clinical practice for treating breast cancer. “We are proud to hold this activity for nine consecutive years trying to update all colleagues from the Middle East region with the most recent data presented in the month conference in the San Antonio Breast Cancer Conference trying to address relevant and important issues in the management of our Breast Cancer patients in the region” Dr. Omalkhair Said. 

Breast cancer is considered the most common type of cancer among females. More than 1 million cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year and many cases die worldwide from this disease according to WHO latest statistics. According to latest official reports 1,600 new cases are diagnosed with the disease on annual bases in Saudi Arabia. Specialists recognized that yet Saudi Arabia has less incidence rates in comparison with many Arab, European and American countries.
