Jeddah Airport delegation applauds Dubai Customs’ experience in facilitating travel and maintaining security

A Saudi delegation from the customs of King Abdul Azziz International Airport in Jeddah highly applauded the high advanced level Dubai Customs has reached. During their visit to the Passenger Operations Department in Dubai International Airport, Terminal 3, the Saudi visitors expressed admiration and willingness to benefit from the knowledge and experience Dubai Customs has in this field. 

Customs Director General at King Abdulaziz International AirportBandar Al-Rahili, said they are visiting Dubai International Airport to learn about the best practices applied by Dubai Customs to serve passengers and facilitate their arrivals and departures.

The visitors toured the sections of the Passenger Operations Department and viewed the latest technologies and devices used in thwarting smuggling attempts. They learnt about the procedures taken and the civilized way in which the customs officers treat passengers, whilst providing the highest levels of security in the airport. The delegates also viewed the latest innovations developed in-house including the smart luggage inspection system and Al kashif Vehicle.  

Ibrahim Al Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations Department at Dubai Customs pointed out that Dubai Customs has made travel an easy hassle-free experience through the application of smart technologies.

“Terminal 3 is equipped with 41 inspection devices and 320 highly trained customs inspections officers” Al Kamali said. 

On his part, Shuaib Al Suwaidi, Director of Customs Intelligence Department gave a detailed presentation on the advanced systems used in the control room at the head office. 

The control room is the first of its type in the region. It was established in 2007 to cope up with the growing flow and traffic of trade and passenger to the emirate. A total of 500 control cameras are distributed on 20 entry points in Dubai and there are plans to raise the number to 1700 cameras, he explained. 

The control room manages 23 security customs programs around-the-clock to ensure highest levels of security in the airport.
