The Sharjah FDI office (Invest in Sharjah), an investment promotion agency under the umbrella of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), has underlined its exceptional business advantages at the seventh edition of the Al Dana Ferguson Forum.
Themed ‘Bahrain – The Smart Hub / Gateway for Global and GCC Investments & Industries’ the forum, which took place from 22-23 November at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel in Bahrain, showcased the spectrum of investment opportunities in Bahrain as well as the GCC. Exploring possible partnerships between regional and international companies as well as signing cooperation agreements, the event encouraged global corporations and organisations – particularly from Europe and the USA – to invest in the region.
‘Invest in Sharjah’ showcased the emirate’s rich investment opportunities in sectors such as leisure and tourism, real estate, healthcare, industry, transport and logistics, eco-tourism, environment and education. There was also a heavy emphasis on developing other areas of trade and commerce as well as the full range of premium facilities and services that encourage businesses to start up their projects or expand their operations in Sharjah.
Saif Mohamed Salim Alsuwaidi, Investment Promotion Manager at Shurooq said: “Our participation in the forum was a great opportunity to promote Sharjah’s dynamic investment sectors and educate entrepreneurs on all aspects of the emirate’s vibrant and business-friendly environment. We have two free zones that allow full foreign ownership of companies with no tax or restrictions on invested capital movements, plus a strong, sophisticated infrastructure and developed logistics services that allow businesses to enjoy international growth. Sharjah is ideally positioned both strategically and geographically, connecting East and West.
“We had several meetings with investors, especially from Europe, who showed great interest in Sharjah. We discussed the ease and incentives of starting up businesses, and have seen extremely positive reactions and genuine intention in taking the natural step from interest to investment. We look forward to establishing strong ties with these new partners and welcoming them to Sharjah,” Alsuwaidi added.
The Al Dana Ferguson Forum brings together companies as well as investment entities that operate in different fields such as real-estate, energy, banking, investment and healthcare, along with international universities with the aim of exploring their expansion in the region.
For several years, through the co-operation of Al Dana Partners & Ferguson Partners Family Office, the Al Dana Ferguson has been hosting private, by-invitation-only events for global and local GCC investors and business people to discuss investment opportunities and explore generating productive partnerships and agreements between them.
