International Student Card Gaining Popularity in the UAE

ISIC overwhelming success for its first year in the Emirates

ISIC, the International Student Identity Card, has now been available in the UAE for a year and the demand is growing steadily. Over 16,000 UAE students have acquired it so far.
The ISIC card not only allows students in the UAE to prove their student status worldwide, but provides them with access to specially developed student benefits in over 130 countries. Through the ISIC card, students are able to benefit from special offers for travel, education, entertainment, shopping culture and many others. Although the ISIC card is still relatively new in the Emirates, substantial partnerships have already been implemented, which benefit both the students and the companies that wish to reach the students and youth segment of the population.

In order to provide the largest number of students in the UAE with an internationally recognized student identity document, the ISIC has formed a cooperation with the TECOM Investments. “We are pleased to provide students studying in Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) and Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) with the opportunity to obtain the ISIC card. It is our mission to create an appealing and welcoming academic environment, which prepares students for the global workforce,” said Ibrahim Moosa Jamel, Director of Operations from TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster. “The ISIC card allows students to leverage their international experience, as well as being able to avail of many benefits worldwide”, he continued.
ISIC provides access to over 125,000 benefits worldwide. Based on an ISIC global survey, 58% of students are interested in traveling, 30% travel more than once per year, further 22% of students spend their spare money on traveling. “Since the creation of ISIC in 1953, the ISIC card has supported students with special travel benefits - that is why cooperation with Emirates was a natural choice,” said Mr. Michal Lezo, the ISIC International Operations Manager. “The growing student/youth market both in the UAE and globally is an important one for Emirates and collaborating with partners such as ISIC helps us to attract this key traveler demographic.” Mr. Adam D’Ambrosio, Emirates Global Special Segments Manager. “Thanks to our joint partnership we are able to verify the traveler status through our dedicated online booking portal, offering a student/youth product while retaining the integrity of our distribution channel.” he continued.
ISIC cards are a unique tool which provides students with special benefits and advantages in the UAE and worldwide. Through the targeted communication towards the student, they also support local businesses and provide them with access to this special niche segment.
