Inaugural Edition of ‘Future Cities Show’ to kick off in Dubai World Trade Centre from 2 to 4 April 2017

The UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi,announced today (Tuesday, 7 February 2017) at a press conference held in the ministry’s offices in Dubaia debut show on sustainability, innovation and happiness under the name of ‘Future Cities Show’ from 2 to 4 April 2017.

The press conference was attended by HE Hassan Al Mansouri, ActingUnder-Secretary, Ministry of Infrastructure Development; HE Jamila Al Fandi, General Manager of Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme; HE Dr. Abdullah Salem Al Katheeri, Director General, Federal Transport Authority- Land and Maritime; HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, Dubai Land Department; HE Faris Saeed,Chairman of The Sustainable City; and Mr. Dawood Al Shezawi, Chairman of Strategic and Head of the organisation committee of the new show.

 

“Today we are announcing debut Future Cities Show 2017 that will be held under the theme of sustainability, innovation and happiness. Our objective is to establish tomorrow's leading cities that can surpass reality. The cities help achieving happiness and luxury to the people of the world and to the people of UAE, a country that is always focused on being at the forefront,” said His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development.

 

“We aim to build future cities powered by latest technology as well as renewable energy solutions. Building these cities can help make the societies more advanced, civilised and sustainable. They can also achieve sustainable and economic growth that is based on strong foundations, making people happier,” added HE Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi.

 

“Future Cities Show is a global platform for companies and organisations engaged in developing an advanced infrastructure all over the world. It will also attract big investors and those who have creative and innovative ideas to build the future cities from the economic, technological and environmental aspects. This show can consolidate once more the status of UAE and Dubai as international hub for innovation and creativity as tools for better future,” added Dr Al Nuaimi.

 

“The UAE is witnessing huge developments in various fields. We are committed not only to keep up with the latest developments, but also to foresee the challenges in all vital sectors in the country. We are determined to face these challenges and work on achieving advancements at various levels. To achieve this, we would need to develop the cities to be more energy efficient, and to build modern roads, buildings and facilities, so we can guarantee continued growth and emphasising at the same time on environmental conservation,added Dr Al Nuaimi.

 

The UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development also hoped that the first edition of Future Cities Show 2017 will be a huge success, so that it can help UAE achieve the sustainable development goals and guarantee the happiness of the citizens and residents in the country.

 

“Dubai Land Department is a strategic partner of inaugural Future Cities Show, since its objectives match our vision of innovation, trust and happiness. Our objective is to make future cities based on sustainable development foundations. Dubai is a perfect example of the way to plan future cities; the vision of the leadership and Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050  ensure that we are going on the right path to build safe and sustainable future,” added HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, Dubai Land Department.

 

“Under the directive of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai started to focus on sustainability as a key principle for the strategy of the future. The Sustainable City of Dubai came as the first sustainable community in the region, and the pioneering residential projects producing clean energy in Dubai. We are happy to be part of Future Cities show to exchange experience with all concerned parties,” HE Faris Saeed,Chairman of The Sustainable City.

 

“We are really happy to organise inaugural edition of the show. We are also happy with the huge response we are getting from the private and public sector companies. These objectives come in line with UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and UAE vision 2021. The Future Cities Show will guarantee the best environmental practices to reduce the carbon footprint, and guarantee less pollution and better luxury for the residents of these cities. We hope to see best innovations from the participants in this show as these innovations are going to shape the future of coming generations,” added Dawood Al Shezawi, Chairman of Strategic and Head of the organisation committee of the new show.

 

Future Cities Show is an international platform where all the companies which services pertain with infrastructure development from all over the world can gather, alongside with investors, and all those who have creative ideas to build the future cities from all the technological, environmental and economic aspects.

 

Future Cities Show objectives come in line with the innovative strategies launched in Dubai by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, such as Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. The show also contributes in UAE vision 2021 and the UAE national agenda.

 

The organising committee of the show is keen to attract experts who work in relevant fields including city designers, decision makers, officials and key players in energy field. These experts are going to discuss the challenges that face the realisation of modern cities as per the best international standards.

 

The new show will attract experts, city developers, architects and investors in this field. It will provide them the opportunity to show their innovations as it highlight dimensions of future cities. The show will also feature futuristic designs that can help generate energy, preserve electricity and water consumption up to the latest international sustainable standards.
