In line with the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision, Desert Technologies Launches the Containerized Solar Generators “Sahara” for the First Time in Saudi Arabia.

Desert Technologies Company, a closed joint stock company, launched the solar energy containers "Sahara" in the Neom region in the north of the Kingdom in cooperation with the French company Green Corp Konnection, for the purpose of operating a part in the assembly area during the Saudi Dakar Rally 2021.

The company has launched two solar enclosures, the first being 20 feet in length and the second 40 feet, generating 62 kilowatts of power. The Sahara solar energy containers are compact and portable, with their ability to provide 100% clean energy direct from the sun during the day and through a package of energy storage batteries at night. They are also easy to install panels that operate 24/7 in complete silence – in comparison with regular diesel generators - with minimum maintenance required. The Sahara solar container, which is 40 feet long, can provide near-instant sustainable energy in remote areas in a few days.

Sahara was launched for the first time in the Kingdom, and was previously launched in Africa as an ideal product for generating energy in agglomerations or in small villages that do not have electricity or are outside the coverage of the electricity network. It can meet the basic needs of about 70 small homes and is an alternative energy solution to the traditional energy system which is costly to implement and maintain.

On his part, Dr. Musaed Al-Assaf, Vice Chairman of the Desert Technologies Company, said: "we are proudly looking at the Kingdom's vision, which targets investments of about 200 billion dollars over the course of twenty years to produce the main Utility Scale Projects which aim to produce about 30 million solar panels within The Kingdom, generate more than 100,000 job opportunities and create a knowledge-based economy." He added that this industry is a safer and more sustainable environmental approach to producing electricity that contributes to an environmental revolution, creates a sustainable industry within the Kingdom and prepares for a bright future for the innovative and regionally competitive local industry.

Mr. Khaled Ahmed Sharbatly, the executive partner of the company, commented: "The Kingdom's 2030 Vision will create unprecedented jobs for engineers and clean alternative energy that will benefit everyone. We work through the company's factory in Jeddah to collect and market solar panels produced in Saudi Arabia to reach retail sectors such as Exhibitions, schools, mosques, factories, warehouses and soon homes all over the Kingdom to reduce the kilowatt price for companies and individuals, where solar energy today has become the least expensive energy source known around the world."

The founder and CEO of Desert Technologies, Engineer Nour Moussa, added: “It is worth noting that Desert Technologies operates in an integrated manner creates jobs that did not exist before, and wouldn’t have existed otherwise.” Pointing out that the permanent importation of skills and technology which are new to the region contributes to a knowledge-based economy, “and here we are directly contributing by operating the company's factory to assemble Saudi-made solar panels, and launching the containerized solar energy generator Sahara, which is a great celebration.”
