Last night, Huawei Arabia celebrated the opening of Hassan Hajjaj’s photography show at Colette during Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture. The images on display were all taken from the photography workshop Hajjaj held for Huawei Arabia at his Larache Studio in London, England where the artist swapped his SLR camera for the Huawei P9 and captured 21 compelling portraits true to his eclectic and vibrant style.
The soiree attendees included international media, Parisian guests, fellow artists and friends of Hajjaj who were invited to preview the solo exhibition at the Colette store in Paris. The diverse range of art and photography created by the Moroccan-born, London resident reflects Hassan’s background and pop culture.
When Hassan left Morocco for London at an early age, he was heavily influenced by both the hip-hop, and reggae scenes of England as well as his North African heritage which is evident in his creative portraiture, installations, fashion and design.
Knowing this, Huawei Arabia reached out to Hajjaj when launching their latest flagship device, the Huawei P9 co-engineered with photography giant Leica Camera AG. The work commissioned by Huawei Arabia on display at Colette saw street style portraits of musicians, artists and friends draped in colorful, funky clothing and bold accessories.
Further to the artist’s preview at Colette, guests made their way to Andy Wahloo, a Parisian hotspot Hajjaj designed in 2003 where the after party was powered by Huawei Arabia.
To view Hajjaj’s work shot with the Huawei P9 visit the exhibit at Colette ongoing from now through the month of August.
