The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) -- the global marketing arm for Hong Kong-based manufacturers, traders and service providers – has announced that it will host the third edition of the popular Lifestyle Expo in Dubai. Organized jointly with China’s Ministry of Commerce, Trade Development Bureau (MOFCOM), the Expo will be held on November 9-10, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency in Deira, Dubai.
Following the success of its previous editions in the UAE, the Lifestyle Expo 2015 will feature more than 100 companies from Hong Kong and the mainland provinces of Tianjin, Fujian and Guangdong. The companies will display products under the categories of fashion and accessories, watches and clocks, electronics, household items and gift items.
Commenting on the Expo, Mr. Perry Fung, Regional Director for Middle East and Africa, HKTDC, said: “The Lifestyle Expo will feature the best in quality products from China for buyers in the Middle East. We believe this would help promote bilateral trade between the two countries and highlight the opportunities for collaboration between Hong Kong and UAE, which serves as important trade and financial hubs for our respective regions.”
“The UAE is a key trading partner of Hong Kong in the Middle East. The Expo is an ideal opportunity for companies to demonstrate the quality, style and value of their products to potential buyers in the Middle East and Africa,” Mr Fung added.
Last year the value of bilateral trade was US$10 billion, up 7.3 per cent compared to the previous year. The UAE is Hong Kong’s largest export market in the Middle East. In 2014, Hong Kong’s exports to the UAE were US$6.2 billion, an increase of 25 per cent year-on-year.
Hong Kong is a lifestyle trendsetter in Asia and a number of the city’s leading brands will be taking part in the Expo in Dubai. They include the renowned food company Lee Kum Kee, fashion houses Cocomojo and Melkco, watch manufacturer 2CAN and specialists Lomax and WKLED, to name a few.
Accomplished designers Derek Chan, Walter Kong and Jessica Lau, Matt Hui and Mountain Yam will also bring their designs to the event’s FASHIONALLY zone.
The event will also feature award-winning products on display from various sectors including printing, gifts and innovation and technology.
The Expo will offer a great networking platform where customized business-matching services will be arranged to connect buyers from the Middle East and Africa with exhibitors from Hong Kong and the mainland to help promote business partnerships.
To exemplify and enhance the “Hub-to-Hub” synergy, the HKTDC, in collaboration with Dubai Exports and other Business Councils in Dubai will also stage a two-day forum concurrently with the Lifestyle Expo. Various speakers from different organisations and companies will share their latest business updates on how to better utilise the emerging business opportunities in the UAE and Hong Kong via such hubs to penetrate the Asia and Middle East and Africa Markets.
On day two of the event, a special business networking session will be co-organised with the Iranian Business Council in Dubai to explore potential co-operation among the attendees following all the recent developments in the Iranian market.
More than 20 companies will take part in the Small Orders showcase on hktdc.com, where buyers can place orders of between five and 1,000 pieces.
Around 1,000 importers, distributors, mass retailers, mail-order houses, department stores and specialised stores from the UAE, Iran, Africa and other neighbouring countries and regions are expected to take part in the two-day Lifestyle Expo in Dubai.
