Haia launches drive against extortion, blackmailing
Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar recently inaugurated a campaign here against extortion and blackmailing organized by the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Haia) in the presence President Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Al-Sanad. “The scourge of extortion is grave and done by some elements who have no fear of God … and they destroy young people,” said Prince Faisal. “The word blackmail is bad as it sends across the wrong message in every sense. Islam directs us not to stoop so low,” he said, adding: “Our religion always urges us to maintain the five principles: Religion, soul, dignity, the mind and money.
“We must turn to the right Islamic text, at our schools, our universities and in our work departments.” He added: “Blackmail has many sides and must remain far away from us and our business. We must work to preserve the honor of Muslims and not compromise on human dignity and the earth, which is home.”
“In the homeland of Islam, peace, security, faith, prosperity and stability you enjoy all the moral and doctrinal and behavioral and intellectual security in this blessed country,” Al-Sanad said. He said everyone should confront all criminal transgressors who want to prey on the security of people. Haia will deal firmly with any blackmailer who snatches people’s rights, privacy or their secrets, he added.
