The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) published the 115th issue of “The Industrial Cooperation in the Arabian Gulf” Magazine in which GOIC Secretary General Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Hamad Al-Ageel wrote: “GOIC Supports Gulf Industrial Development Projects”. He explained that since the first day of 2016, GOIC kick started the fifth and last year of its five-year plan (2012-2016) that highlighted the Organization’s desired vision to become an internationally renowned competitive expertise hub excelling in the area of industrial consulting services.
Mr. Al-Ageel stated that GOIC has accomplished several key tasks under the technical cooperation and regional coordination program with the GCC Secretariat General, notably completing the study on GCC non-oil export strategy, preparing a paper on the importance of maximising the added value of machines and equipment used in GCC desalination plants, putting together a paper on the projected economic profits of the GCC rail project and relevant industrial investment opportunities. Furthermore, GOIC carried out many joint projects in the GCC like the waste industry management study, the second meeting of the regional GSPX steering committee, the annual assessment of the readiness of GCC countries to shift towards knowledge-based industries and the annual GCC industrial competitiveness report.
The issue featured “Gulf economies… Continuous growth in spite of the challenges of the fall of oil prices”, a report by HE Mr. Mohammed Bin Khamis Al-Mukhaini, GOIC Assistant Secretary General for Industrial Studies and Information. Mr. Al-Mukhaini underlined that the fall of oil prices should drive GCC countries to adopt necessary policies to achieve the following goals: carrying out structural economic reforms, achieving energy efficiency, diversifying production base, supporting non-oil exports, diversifying investments, supporting main infrastructure projects such as roads, railways and ports, promoting research and development centres, encouraging innovation, forming highly trained and skilful national cadre, gaining benefit from other countries’ success stories in the area of economic diversification, broadening private sector’s contribution to the development process, providing suitable environment to attract valuable foreign investments and building strategic partnerships with international companies.
Moreover, Editor-in-Chief Mrs. Abir Adel Jaber wrote an article entitled: “GOIC, constant endeavours to promote the Gulf industrial sector.” She stated that the Organization will continue to carry out initiatives aiming at achieving industrial development throughout 2016, notably hosting the Clean Energy and Sustainability Summit in collaboration with Al-Attiyah Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development and under the patronage of HE Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry in the State of Qatar on the 14th and 15th of November 2016. GOIC will also co-organise the “Gulf Safety Forum” in cooperation with Euro Petroleum Consultants (EPC) under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar on the 30th and 31st of October 2016.
Mrs. Jaber added: “GOIC is planning to hold other forums on investment in healthcare and the second Gulf industrial metrology forum, in addition to its training programs for Gulf cadres, various industrial studies and industrial investment opportunities propositions.”
In addition, the issue included many articles such as “Analysis of entrepreneurship in GCC countries” by Dr. Nozad Al-Hiti, “E-commerce in the GCC… Obstacles and growth prospects” by Engineer Ali Bahzad, “Striking a balance between income source diversification and demographic growth control” by economic expert Bashir Kahlout and “The Renminbi is coming… from the heart of the City of London” by journalist Saeed Hilal Al-Sharifi etc.
This edition also featured a detailed report about the highlights, sessions and recommendations of the 15th Industrialists’ Conference “Foreign Direct Investment in the GCC and its impact on industry” held by GOIC under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) in Kuwait. It also featured another report on the recommendations of the 1st Gulf Metrology Forum organised by GOIC in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment in the State of Qatar, the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) and the Gulf Association for Metrology (GULFMET) under the patronage of HE Engineer Ahmed Bin Amer Al-Hemaidi, Qatar’s Minister of Environment.
Furthermore, the Magazine included the summary of an industrial investment opportunity entitled “The establishment of a factory to produce industrial fuel and diesel by pyrolysis of palm wastes (palm sawdust)”, and the Magazine’s standard sections such as “GOIC News”, “Upcoming Industrial Events”, “Industrial Sector News” and specialised training workshops offered by GOIC in 2016 to develop the capacities of the industrial labour force in GCC countries and Yemen.
The Industrial Cooperation in the Arabian Gulf Magazine is a quarterly periodical issued by the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC). It features articles about GCC industrial and economic trends and new technology applications. The magazine also tackles different economic topics including brief and in-depth analyses of the current economic and industrial situation. Furthermore, the magazine includes reports about the industrial sector in the Gulf and challenges to new industries in particular. In addition to that, it features summaries about relevant industrial, economic and financial topics and articles regarding the current industrial environment, industrial statistics, industrial data and information technologies, forecasts, industrial management and other relevant topics.
