Godiva, the Belgian chocolate manufacturer, said it was getting ready to commemorate Ramadan and Eid with new products that include new seasonal flavours, and new packaging.
“We’re seeing increasing demand for our products particularly in the gifting season at the end of Ramadan for Eid, and we prepare very special collections for consumers that are only found here in the Middle East for Ramadan. It’s not only boxed chocolates but other kinds of assorted chocolates that you see here in the store,” said Mohammad Elsarky, chief executive officer of Godiva.
Godiva’s signature, most sought-after products in the region include their chocolate-covered strawberries, which alone make up 15-20 per cent of the company’s sales, and their Sin Cake, a ganache-glazed cake with a cocoa-dusted ‘bean.’
The chocolate-covered strawberries are sold at Dh10 per piece, yet there are often special queues of customers lined up, waiting to purchase some.
Other popular items include gold boxes (Gold Ballotins), Royal Gift Boxes, and chocolate soft-serve ice creams.
“We’re always researching new products. In fact, when we bring out new products to consumers, these have been in preparation for 12-18 months. I can confidently tell you that in the next weeks and months you will see new products that are coming out,” Elsarky told Gulf News.
Godiva’s chocolates are all made in a factory in Belgium where outlets around the world import from.
