GCA President Participates in SAI20 Engagement Group

General Court of Audit (GCA) President Dr. Hussam Al-Angari led the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation to the Engagement Group meeting of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Group of Twenty (G20) member states (SAI20) that began yesterday in Belém, Brazil, the GCA said in a news release.
The meeting focused on harmonizing the work of SAI20 and G20 government institutions, and fostering cooperation on common goals like monitoring sustainable development, social and economic development, and global progress. Best practices and innovative methodologies were emphasized, along with reviewing and discussing cooperation between SAI20 members and the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), the GCA said.
Dr. Al-Angari emphasized in a speech that the Kingdom has taken significant steps towards a more sustainable future since launching Vision 2030. These steps include sustainable development initiatives, projects, and activities in the environmental, economic, and social fields. He also highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's regional and international efforts in these areas. Dr. Al-Angari stressed the importance of the pivotal and complementary roles that SAIs can play in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of government initiatives and projects related to sustainable development and social and economic development.
The heads of delegations participating in the final statement of the SAI20 meeting also stressed the endeavors of SAIs in the G20 member states. The endeavor focuses on developing visions and strategic directions aimed at adopting best professional practices, promoting the principles of accountability and good governance, and activating the role of SAIs. As strategic partners with the governments of the G20 member states, they operate within the framework of responding to relevant international changes.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr. Al-Angari held bilateral meetings with heads of counterpart SAIs. The meetings focused on discussing topics of common interest.
