General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) released the results of “Umrah Statistics Bulletin 2019” through its official website www.stats.gov.sa. The Report contains a number of Umrah-related indicators and results during 2019, which have been taken from Umrah Survey (for domestic Umrah performers), and register- based data of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (for foreign Umrah performers).
The total number of Umrah performers reached (19,158,031) performers, (7,457,663) of whom are from outside Saudi Arabia as showed in the register- based data of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. On the other hand, the total number of domestic Umrah performers for Saudis and non-Saudis amounted to (11,700,368) performers, based on the Umrah Survey’s results carried out by GASTAT. The percentage of Umrah performers for Saudis as well as non-Saudis coming from inside Saudi Arabia recorded (%45.40) and (54.60%), respectively, according to the Umrah Statistics Bulletin’s results.
The percentage of total Umrah performers rose for the year of 2019, with an increase of (4.63%), compared to the year of 2018. Saudi Umrah performers represent (27.73%), where the largest share was recorded for domestic Umrah performers, with (61.07%), Bulletin’s results showed.
The number of domestic Umrah performers reached its peak in the holy month of Ramadan, with a percentage of (58.10%), out of total number of domestic Umrah performers, which is close to the percentage recorded in the last year, as it reached (59.08%) out of total number of domestic Umrah performers in 2018, Umrah Survey’ results noted.
Private vehicle is considered the most common means of transportation used to reach Makkah region for domestic Umrah performers, with (67.99%). However, foreign Umrah performers had the highest duration of stay with two weeks, recording (48.01%), according to the results.
The percentage of males is higher than that of females, reaching (64.62%) and (35.38%) respectively. The age group (30-39) years represents the highest number of domestic Umrah performers, with (24.52%). Likewise, the same age group recorded the highest number of domestic Umrah performers, with (25.09%) for the year 2018, based on the Bulletin’s results.
