Gaming fans gear up for thrilling five days of exhilarating encounters at Esports World Cup Week 2

Hot on the heels of a sensational start to its action-packed summer schedule, the inaugural Esports World Cup returns to the global gaming spotlight on Wednesday with another series of epic matches locked in across Week 2. 

Running for eight weeks until August 25 at Boulevard Riyadh City, the Esports World Cup is a global celebration of competitive excellence and esports fandom. Billed as the biggest moment in esports history, the event features a unique cross-game structure with the world’s greatest clubs and athletes going head-to-head for record-breaking prizes across 22 tournaments and 21 world-leading games.  

Following an unforgettable first week where capacity crowds witnessed thrilling conclusions to the Call of Duty: Warzone and League of Legends tournaments, gaming fans are gearing up for another five days of exhilarating encounters across three highly anticipated competitions. 

Among those awaiting attendees and global audiences is Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. After four days of group stage action last week, the $3 million competition enters the knockouts with eight teams in quarter-final action on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the latter stages. 

Live from the state-of-the-art SEF Arena, Filipino outfit Liquid Echo – unbeaten in the group stage with three wins from three – take on Falcon Esports of Myanmar in an all-Asia showdown while the other club unbeaten in the last round – Falcons AP.Bren (Philippines) – face Cambodia’s See You Soon. The Best-of-5 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang quarter-finals feature Selangor Red Giants (Malaysia) vs Fire Flux Esports (Turkey) and NIP Flash (Singapore) vs HomeBois (Malaysia). 

Another competition resuming on Wednesday is the Dota2 Riyadh Masters. With the play-in stage concluded, two groups of eight teams each will battle it out in Best-of-2 round-robin format from Wednesday to Sunday with play-off places at stake. 

These tournaments top the Esports World Cup Week 2 bill alongside Free Fire. The $1 million tournament – which welcomes 18 local and international clubs – gets underway on Wednesday and runs daily, concluding with the Grand Final on Sunday (July 14). A $300,000 first prize awaits the winner.
