Young UAE nationals buoyed by new government Emiratisation plans to create jobs in the private sector will be presented with a broad variety of additional career opportunities when employers from a wide range of business sectors assemble in Dubai at the country’s leading platform for Emirati job-seekers.
The 17th edition of Careers UAE, an event dedicated to empowering UAE nationals in the workforce, will welcome a host of regional and international companies offering diverse employment prospects to Emiratis at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from 9-11 April.
The three-day job fair aims to build on the success of last year’s exhibition which saw thousands of Emirati graduates and jobseekers finding employment avenues and internship opportunities across the automotive, aviation, banking, construction, energy, telecoms, healthcare, real-estate and oil and gas sectors.
Earlier this month, ambitious Emiratisation plans starting at a select 250 private sector companies in the UAE were announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The initiative will see employers being given incentives for achieving set targets.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event will educate visitors on how their skills and qualifications are best suited for different professions in the public and private sectors through three days of conferences, interviews and an insight into new employment opportunities.
“Careers UAE always strives to provide the best opportunities for young, qualified Emirati talent, and this year it will continue to offer a range of opportunities in different sectors of business including private, public and semi-government.” Encouraging different avenues of interaction between employer and job seeker will help open up different choices to UAE nationals, and help them pursue prospects they may not have considered before,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions & Events Management DWTC.
Added LohMirmand: “In addition to the traditional format of the show, introducing features like the ‘Talent Hunt’ and ‘Mission Possible’ add a different dynamic for visitors, allowing them to put their skills to the test and to network with the top brands in the region.“
Many of the powerhouses of UAE industry will be returning to Careers UAE, owing to its status as a unique platform for aspiring Emirati job-seekers to various opportunities that will empower the country’s youth, build a sustainable future and drive the UAE’s growth and development.
“Careers UAE provides us with the tools to identify the UAE’s next industry leaders,” said Rashed Essa Al Yedawi from the Dubai Government Human Resources Department who are again exhibiting. “We have a huge responsibility when it comes to nurturing our brightest talent within the Government and Careers UAE provides a high-profile platform to look to 2020 and beyond.”
Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans) enthusiastically returns to Careers UAE having enjoyed great success at the event in previous years in recruiting candidates for the National Developing programmes it offers annually for Air Traffic Control Officers and Air Traffic Service Engineer Professionals.
“The organisation strives to acknowledge and support the Emirati talent through providing unique employment opportunities. Participating in Careers UAE provides a good platform to access this talent,” said Masooma Jaffry, Head of Human Resources of dans.
With a line-up of more than 100 employers from local and federal government, semi-government, as well as the UAE and international private sector, Careers UAE will host a variety of interactive activities and education sessions designed to help job seekers develop key skills.
Providing businesses with a critical supply of highly qualified young Emirati talent, the job fair will see job seekers keen to work with some of the region’s top brands taking part in the InternsME ‘Talent Hunt’ which allows visitors to meet, be interviewed and get hired on-the-spot.
New to the show this year, Hopscotch Women’s Conference will be taking place on 10 April, offering female delegates hands-on training, coaching, inspiration and opportunities for women in the workplace.
Taking part this year will be Gold Sponsors Dubai Electronic Security Centre and National Bank of Abu Dhabi, as well as organisations such as Emirates Group, HSBC, Pepsi-Cola International and UAE Armed Forces.
Providing job seekers with additional incentives to hone their skills is the returning feature, ‘Mission Possible’, a team challenge quizzing groups on their employability, CV writing skills and interviewing techniques, with prizes up for grabs for the best teams.
Careers UAE returns 9-11 April 10am-6pm (10 April 2017 10am-1pm – Ladies Only) with support from Strategic Careers Partner, Bayt.com; Youth Employment Partner, InternsME; and Partners Tanmia, Zayed University, Higher Colleges of Technology and Hopscotch.
