Five new programs to enable Balsam own a bigger market share in hospitals operation

Some five new national programs are set to support the Saudi health system and raise the quality of services to meet the best international standards.

Balsam United Company, the biggest technology operators of Saudi hospitals, have launched the five programs recently by its Managing Director Thamer Shaker on May 1, 2019.

The objective was to unveil Balsam’s new identity, strategy and work plan until 2024, in the presence of its representatives and a number of government officials, Consuls General, investors, the media and pertinent authorities.

Shaker announced that the coming five years will see an increase in the company’s market share in operation of big and medium hospitals’ information systems and the entry of new and promising sectors in health fields.

Their aim is to own a big market share in information systems operation for clinics and polyclinics, to keep pace with the latest technologies and modern applications, and provide services with high professionalism.

The working team “is moving towards operational improvement and excellence, expanding the company’s base greatly, and changing the leadership mindset to suit the new strategy and identity by creating ambitious and qualified teams to ensure the company’s sustainability,” Shaker said.

Balsam’s Managing Director has stressed that the new strategy aims to safeguard the gains made during the past years and build on them. This is after Balsam has become the top operator in the Kingdom, according to Ministry of Health data, via its international program “Oasis” for the management and operation of hospitals.

He asserted that Balsam staff are exerting their utmost to meet the needs of the Saudi health system, provide the best information technology solutions and innovations to push forward the wheel of development and achieve the goals of the health sector, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Shaker unveiled five new programs, deemed the first new products provided by Balsam to develop the health sector. The company’s initiatives begin with the “Oasis Plus” program, which uses the latest technologies to improve user’s experience, focus on serving patients and supporting diversity of regulators, and facilitate accessibility to the system and services. It will target medical cities and hospitals of all sizes.

Shaker unveiled the “Oasis Mini” program that specializes in the exchange of joint files between hospitals and administrations. It targets primary healthcare centers, comprehensive clinics and polyclinics.

He said the third initiative is the “Tele Oasis” program, deemed one of the most important distance curative services by evaluating medical consultations and remote monitoring. The program will be available for use by doctors, clinics and medical centers via remote systems.

The system will enable hospitals to provide their clients with on the spot remote consultations using various technologies.

The coming stage will witness the launching of “Oasis Academy” – the fifth new strategic initiative. It aims to raise efficiency in using the system in hospitals, supporting company employees by providing continuous training programs to enhance their understanding of the system, and explaining work methods in the health sector.

The Academy targets the Information Technology departments in hospitals and their staff.

The Managing Director of Balsam has stressed that the Saudi healthcare market is expanding tremendously and requires more efforts to keep pace with the international developments.

“Our strategy relies on continuous development so as to keep up with the fast changes in the technological and medical fields. We aim to contribute nationally in making the future leaders in the technology field and providing them special professional training programs,” Shaker said.

He said the past period witnessed the signing of two Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agreements during Q1 2019 with Al-Ahsa Charitable Society for Combating Cancer and the Directorate General of Health Affairs in Jeddah governorate.
