Firms, govt authorities must train graduates and scholarship students

The Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) has disclosed that it will make it compulsory on government authorities, international organizations and prominent firms to list training opportunities available in Taqat portal, operated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD), the CSC said in a circular, which Okaz has seen.

The National Labor Gateway Taqat is one of initiatives launched by the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf), the MLSD and the Ministry of Civil Service. It provides a full-fledged platform for the private and public sectors as well as service providers in the Saudi labor market.

In this regard, the job opportunities in Tamheer will be restricted to university graduates and Saudi scholarship students, so as to support them in several fields, most prominent of which is the industrial sector. The Tamheer program is an on-the-job training program for Saudi graduates.

This circular has been issued at the recommendation of the Guidance Committee of Tamheer ‘on the job training’, to train graduates from Saudi universities and Saudi scholarship students. The committee is presided by the minister of labor and social development.

The committee has stressed the necessity for the CSC and its Board of Directors to promote and spread the Tamheer Program, coordinate with the firms, urge them to provide quality opportunities in Tamheer Program and focus on the industrial sector.

The training period will range between 3 and 6 months, with the objective of enabling trainees to gain the necessary experience and skills to prepare them for fulltime work.

Meanwhile, the Hadaf will present an experience certificate to the trainees. The trainee will be ruled out if he has registered in the systems of the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) or the Civil Service, and if his attendance is less than 75 percent in two consecutive or separate courses.

The program does not guarantee a job for the trainee, but its objective is to enable him to gain the experience that he needs for the labor market.

The trainee will be provided insurance against “occupation hazards”, which is equivalent to 2 percent of the total income for employees covered by the GOSI system.

Tamheer Program will stop Hafiz Program payments, if the applicant accepts any of the Tamheer offers and starts undergoing training.
