Final Sharjah Children Council Session Dedicated to Harnessing the Youth’s Innovative Capacities

One of tomorrow’s (Thursday) activity highlights at the ongoing UAE Innovation Week at Expo Centre Sharjah, will be the 14th Sharjah Children Council’s (SCC’s) closing session themed ‘We Creatively Innovate Our UAE’. Taking place on Thursday 24th November 2016, young members of the Council and the children centres in Sharjah will come together to open the session by demonstrating some of their brightest inventions in celebration of the UAE Innovation Week.

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the session is organised by the Sharjah Children Centres, and will highlight ways to develop children’s potential for innovation and creativity.

Attended by 69 young members of SCC, the session will be conducted in the presence of HE Aisha Salem Ahmad Bin Samnuh, Member of the Federal National Council; and Eissa Yousef Al Suwaidi, Chairman of International Toastmasters, Arabian Toastmasters Club, who will emphasise through personal life experiences, how embracing innovation and creativity in a supportive environment created by UAE’s wise leadership shaped them to become respected and inspiring members of society.

“The closing session of SCC corresponds with UAE’s Innovation Week, an occasion that showcases the Council’s role in entrenching our leadership’s visions and directives, which has always sought to nurture younger generations with a natural flair for assuming innovative and creative roles in society. Our endeavour is to empower the nation’s youth to refute stereotypes and imitation, and apply ingenuity and brilliance to all aspects of life,” said Reem BinKaram, Director of Sharjah Children Centres.

“Upholding its slogan ‘We Creatively Innovate Our UAE’, the session will focus on how to make innovation a lifetime approach, discussing ways to integrate it fully into children’s lives through their nascent years of growth and development. As the role of innovation in driving a country’s development and economic growth cannot be overstated in today’s day and age, the session will emphasise the need to nurture a fresh generation of innovators who will strengthen the UAE’s presence on the global map of innovations, and leave our great nation’s imprint on human legacy,” BinKaram added.

Discussing the rudiments of innovation, the session will focus on training children to develop qualities like patience, perseverance and sincere efforts, which will pave the way for extraordinary lives. It will also discuss the importance of nurturing qualities of inquiry and curiosity in children, giving them ample opportunities to experience, discover things and explore their surroundings.

The SCC meeting will highlight the need to ignite in the younger generations an insatiable hunger for knowledge, and a passion to find appropriate solutions to problems by practicing creative activities.
