A high-level delegation from the Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, will participate in the biggest international event of it’s kind, the International District Energy Association (IDEA) Conference 2022, which will be held in Toronto, Canada, from 06 to 09 June.
The delegation, which includes chiefs and directors of the company, is headed by Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower and honorary member of the Board of Directors of IDEA and Chairman of the District Cooling Operators Association Dubai. Bin Shafar will attend the IDEA Board meeting, which has been scheduled on the sidelines of the conference, where he will review the most prominent changes and developments in the district cooling industry, and the future outlook of the renewable and clean energy industry, also he will be one of the keynote speakers in the plenary panel of the Opening session, under the conference theme of ‘Building Connections’.
The UAE delegation will take part in the event, which includes a conference, integrated agenda of technical workshops, and in-depth meetings to highlight the vital and strategic role that the UAE plays by adopting and supporting the district cooling systems in achieving a group of climate, economic and societal gains, its impact and effectiveness in ensuring the transformation of human urban habitats to sustainable community incubators. Further, the UAE creates an environment that encourages applying the best sustainable practices regarding consumption, efficiency, and rational management of energy resources.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: "The UAE attaches a great deal of importance to sustainability and environmental conservation to mitigate climate change. Bin Shafar stressed that such international events would enable Empower to build strong bridges with the poles of the district cooling industry and with commercial partners. It is also a valuable opportunity to exchange views and conduct rich dialogues aimed at improving the operational efficiency of district cooling systems and developing innovative technologies.
