Emirates Park Zoo and Resort showed its backing of World Monkey Day by holding a series of events under the initiative, “Monkey Thursday” done for children, by children of GEMS United Indian School.
Thursday, December 14 marks the official Monkey Day, celebrated worldwide in honour of all things simian. Emirates Park Zoo and Resort dedicated the day by hosting the pupils of GEMS United Indian School at the zoo who commemorated Emirates Park Monkey Day. The students banded together to display their artworks of monkeys, and held interactive rounds of exchanging interesting and fun trivia about the beloved specie.
The day came to a close with some fun bonding with Emirates Park Zoo’s Monkey Mascot and a photo session with the same.
Commenting on the event was Dr. Waleed Sha’aban, the zoo operations manager, “It was a fun day with lots of monkeying around and eye-opening moments surrounding monkeys. The occasion is a good reminder to stand strong against animal cruelty and monkey protection.”
He concluded, “It was exciting to be one of the first ever UAE-based establishments to join the global celebration of monkeys. A day for animal lover to celebrate a loved, and wonderful specie. We hope to do it with more of our inmates across schools, with friends and family of all ages.”
