EMC Brings First of its Kind Xchange Day Event to the Region

EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced the successful opening of the region’s first EMC XCHANGE Day with over 150 ICT leaders and professionals in attendance.

Held at the Ritz-Carlton, DIFC, Dubai, the one day event saw ICT leaders and experts share ideas and insights on how IT organizations can best tackle emerging challenges in this exciting era of digital transformation.

Themed “Inspire Business”, the event follows after the The Information Generation: Transforming the Future study that reported a significant impact on customer expectations and demands from business as we continue to witness the emergence of an ever growing global community of digital citizens.

According to the study, 62% of respondents in UAE and Saudi Arabia reported that the rapid adoption of mobile, social, cloud and big data technologies is changing customer behaviour. 63% believe that customers want access to services faster, 56% believe that customers want 24/7 access and connectivity, 51% believe that customers want a personalized experience and 43% believe that customers want access on an increasing number of multi-channel platforms.

Designed to be a comprehensive knowledge exchange platform, EMX Xchange Day Dubai is aimed at helping ICT leaders maintain the delicate balance between innovation and cost reduction.  IDC analysts report that companies spend roughly 70% of their annual IT budgets on maintaining and keeping existing infrastructure running, a cost that is in excess of $2.5 trillion globally

EMC Xchange Day featured a series of workshops and sessions under four key themes, “Academic Alliance”, “Modernize”, “Automate” and “Transform” to direct the effective use of  transformative technologies to uncover new areas of growth, deliver rich, frictionless experiences, and meet escalating expectations and reducing the costs of infrastructure and apps.

In line with the region’s growing focus on the transformation of their urban centers into Smart Cities, during a dedicated session, experts presented detailed insights on the ICT building-blocks to create intelligent, data driven communities and cities. The session extended an in depth presentation of the EMC Federation Smart City Platform, an open, agile, software-defined and data analytics driven solution designed to deliver the speed, performance and scalability needed for hyper-connected, data-driven cities. Comprising three critical layers, the platform brings together best-of-breed technologies from EMCII, VMware, VCE, Pivotal, RSA and Virtustream to host the applications of today and to enable the development of Cloud Native applications which will enables the Cities to accelerate innovation adoption, deliver superior, fast and personalized Citizens and businesses experience and achieve agility and sustainability.

With successful editions in the UK, France and South Africa, EMC Exchange Dubai also featured an exclusive VLabs showcase area to extend first hand demos of leading solutions including the EMC Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, EMC Federation Business Data Lake in addition to RSA Security Analytics and EMC’s leading Flash solutions portfolio.
