DUPHAT 2015 Concludes Sucessfully

The 20th Edition of the Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition (DUPHAT) concluded at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre with 18,000 visitors and participants who had registered over the past three days. The event had surpassed all the speakers’ expectations, and it was honored with the success achieved by the pharmaceutical companies who participated in the exhibition, confirming that DUPHAT has become an international platform for exchange of knowledge and expertise.

DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition this year hosted 120 scientific sessions and 25 workshops that were presented by 120 speakers and specialists including deans, university professors, consultants, and seniors from prestigious pharmaceutical associations. The conference topics covered during the three days the pressing issues in the pharmaceutical field that include patient safety, professionalism, enhancing competency, rational cost effective medication use, precision treatments, pharmacovigilance, expansion of services, drug regulation, pharmaceutical education, clinical pharmacology and toxicology.

By the end of the third day, the scientific committee had released the following DUPHAT Conference recommendations:

Direct attention towards different Pharmacovigilance qualification, awareness and paradigms of risk management planning, ADR reporting, and active patient focused surveillance.

Address the knowledge and skills of pharmaceutical leadership in health systems.

Continue to highlight and support the advancements in Pharmaceutical sciences and Technology as per DUPHAT’s commitment to pharmacy profession.

Make use of international experiences, discussions and reflections on global regulatory impacts on local current practices.

Address newly emerging roles of pharmacists in patient care like safe nutrition, evidence based and standard based nutrition.

Optimize and support the provision of medication advice in community pharmacy with relevant information, strategies, and techniques.

Make use of pertinent knowledge on benefit/risk analysis, budget impact analysis, patient focus and regulatory compliance to leverage pharmaceutical decision making.

Counsel for development of significant patient focused pharmaceutical educational curricula.

Empower patients and enforce community engagement in pharmaceutical practices provision for better outcomes.

Make use of smart application in provision of pharmaceutical care in order to enhance efficient workflow and staff productivity for improving patient satisfaction and happiness.

Focus on latest drug inventions and specialized drug innovations in order to enhance outcomes of therapeutic management in patients.

From the other side, DUPHAT Exhibition succeeded to host prominent companies in the pharmaceutical industry to showcase their latest products and concepts. It is worth mentioning that the largest local stand was for Julphar, the largest international stand went for Pfizer and Novartis and the largest country pavilion was the Turkish pavilion.

On another scope, a number of officials and heads of delegations, along with DUPHAT Committee had visited H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority at his palace in Zabeel yesterday evening. The committee was led by H. E. Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of Dubai Health Authority and Dr. Ali Al Sayed Director of Pharmaceutical Services Department at the Dubai Health Authority and DUPHAT Conference Chairman, and Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice-chairman and CEO of INDEX Holding.

The delegation expressed their gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his continuous support to the healthcare sector, pharmaceutical sector and scientific research.

On the sidelines of the event, an award ceremony was held during DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition to honor the participants and sponsors of DUPHAT. The ceremony was attended by officials, sponsors, heads of delegates and members of the scientific committee, while Dr. Ahmad bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Ali Al Sayed Director of Pharmaceutical Services Department at the Dubai Health Authority and DUPHAT Conference Chairman, and Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice-chairman and CEO of INDEX Holding handed the mementos trophies and expressed their gratitude for all those who contributed to the success of the conference.
