Dubai Supreme Council of Energy promotes 3rd Emirates Energy Award (EEA) 2017 in Oman

As part of its efforts to maximise participation in 3rd Emirates Energy Award (EEA) 2017 that will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai under the theme ‘Innovative Solutions for Clean Energy’, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) highlighted the key elements of the event today (Wednesday, 14 December 2016) at a press conference organised in Grand Hyatt in Muscat.

The conference was attended by Mr. Omar Al Qurashi, Vice Chairman of EEA Marketing and Events, Mr. Naser Al Shaiba, Director of Environment, Health, Safety and Climate Change, DSCE along representatives from Omani energy sector specialising in energy, environment and water technology as well as universities.

In the opening speech, representatives of the Council underlined the role of Emirates Energy Award (EEA) in rewarding best energy-saving practices that are applicable and innovative at the same time.

“To be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, this award aims to nurture innovative insights and ideal practices in sustainable growth. That will develop innovative insights and ideal practices to create new methods and ways to achieve sustainable growth. EEA presents an ideal opportunity to present ideas, visions and solutions in order to enhance and achieve the best possible results in future innovations,” said HE Ahmad B. Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of DSCE, Vice Chairman of Executive Committee of EEA.

“The Emirates Energy Award (EEA) is a leading platform dedicated to recognise latest innovations and technologies in the fields of energy, in addition to highlighting the findings of researchers and scientists in areas such as energy generation, consumption, and use of environmental resources. It serves as a catalyst for the exchange of ideas, insights and solutions to achieve the best possible results in future innovations,” added HE Ahmad B. Al Muhairbi.

The press conference held in Oman aimed to attract public and private institutions and research centres working in the energy sector due to the efforts and major projects undertaken by the Sultanate in order to shift to a green economy. The conference is in line with Oman’s Vision 2020, which aims to meet 10% of electricity requirements from renewable energy sources by 2020. Oman has the highest rating for purity of skies, making it one of the places that have high solar energy concentrations and a promising market for solar projects.

EEA has 10 categories: Energy Efficiency-Public & Private Sectors (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Energy Efficiency -Private Sector (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Large Energy Project (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Small Energy Project (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Connecting Solar Power to Buildings Project for Large Projects (more than 500 KW) (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Connecting Solar Power to Buildings Project for Small Projects (less than 500 KW) (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Education and Capacity Building  (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Research and Development (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Young Professional Energy Award (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), and Special Recognition Award.
