Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced that it will be attending the opening ceremony of the National Pavilion UAE at the 58thInternational Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, alongside the UAE delegation. The Pavilion will be officially inaugurated by H.E. Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, on 8thMay 2019. The ceremony will be attended by H.E. Hala badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, and other key UAE delegates from federal entities and prominent cultural institutions from the UAE and Italy.
The exhibition, which commences on 11thMay 2019 and runs until 24thNovember 2019, will host more than 80 National Pavilions under the title ‘May You Live in Interesting Times’. delete
At the exhibition, UAE will be presenting ‘Passage’ – which is video installation by award-winning poet and filmmaker Nujoom Alghanem, with Pavilion curators Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath. The National Pavilion UAE, which is commissioned by the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and supported by the UAE Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, marks the sixth participation of the UAE at the coveted exhibition.
Commenting on the exhibition and Dubai Culture’s presence, H.E. Hala Badri said, Dubai Culture is joining the UAE delegation and the Authority supports this important cultural rendezvous. The opening event for the National Pavilion UAE at Venice Biennale is in line with our aim to empower the arts, culture, heritage, and literature sectors, while positioning Dubai on international platforms as an incubator of these sectors and a facilitator of creative economy. The event will act as a common ground for the cultural institutions and federal entities of the UAE to showcase their support to development and establishment of creative industries, and to promote the thriving cultural and arts landscape of the UAE at a global level, starting from Venice.”
H.E. Badri added, “This participation serves as the commencement of our international partaking, as we will go on to join various worldwide events from now on. With this, we intend to share the cultural offerings of Dubai with the global travelers and raise awareness about Dubai as an ideal cultural and creative tourism destination.”
