Dubai Culture celebrates Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed’s 60th appointment anniversary

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts, heritage, and literature, held a panel discussion yesterday entitled ‘March of a Leader’ at Etihad Museum in commemoration of the 60th appointment anniversary of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, that witnessed the attendance of a number of officials.

HE Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security in Dubai; Dr Rafiaa Obaid Ghubash, Founder of The Women's Museum in Dubai; took part in the panel that was headed by Ali Obaid Al Hamli, News Centre Director at Dubai Media Incorporated.

During the event, the book ‘Rashid: The Leader Who Envisioned the Future’ was launched. The book includes a comprehensive review that highlights the march of the late Sheikh Zayed’s companion, the founder of Dubai, and his many important achievements that contributed to qualitative changes in Dubai’s social and economic life and the UAE in general.

HE Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General of Dubai Culture, said: “This event reinforces the loyalty and gratitude of the founder of the Emirate, the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and his esteemed brothers who laid the foundation of a country we are proud to belong to. We organised this event at Etihad Museum, where the Founding Fathers’ lives and glories are always celebrated so that they may consistently be a source of inspiration for future generations. We are delighted to launch ‘Rashid: The Leader Who Envisioned the Future’, a rich historical book that provides researchers, students, and those interested to learn more about the great leaders, especially the achievements of this great personality, which transformed Dubai to a world-class prestigious city, placing it on the list of the fastest growing cities in the world and becoming one of the world’s trade capitals.”

Al Nabouda added: “We look at Sheikh Rashid’s 60th appointment anniversary with pride and appreciation for his essential role, great legacy, and remarkable achievements, not only in Dubai, but also in working with his brother, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayan, to establish the UAE and consolidate the foundation of the Union.”

The book reviews Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed’s great achievements, accompanied by the late Sheikh Zayed, and their role in the Union’s march to promote the UAE’s superiority both regionally and internationally, their effective political and economic roles, as well as their contribution to the region’s stability and security.

It also focuses on the projects and initiatives that put Dubai on the global trade map by creating an advanced infrastructure and an appropriate environment for investment which helped attract businessmen, investors, and decision makers. The book also highlights his close relationship with citizens in various aspects of their social, health, and educational lives.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures to enhance Dubai's position as a creative and sustainable global city for culture, heritage, arts, and literature. By empowering these sectors and seeking a multicultural, sustainable, and vibrant society, Dubai Culture’s objectives is to achieve the happiness and comfort of people in the Emirate by developing creative and innovative projects and initiatives locally, regionally, and globally.
