du Live! PRESENTS KATY PERRY AT du Arena ON YAS ISLAND

Lit by more than just fireworks, Katy Perry gave a New Year’s Eve show to remember at the du Arena on Yas Island tonight. Presented by du Live! and brought to you by FLASH Entertainment in association with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi and Yas Island, the spectacular New Year’s Eve concert was tailor-made by Katy Perry just for the UAE.

Ahead of the show, Katy expressed her excitement about performing in Abu Dhabi, calling out to the “UAE KatyCats”, saying: “I’m so happy to see you again, and to play Abu Dhabi for the first time! It’s going to be a wonderful way to ring in the New Year!

From the moment she entered the stage singing ‘Dark Horse’, the award-winning artist had fans of all ages mesmerised by her brilliant performance. Featuring special effects, a mesmerising catwalk stage for an up close and personal interaction with fans, a laser show and live-action video wall, the bespoke show bought an exceptional end to a year of thrilling entertainment in Abu Dhabi.

Letting fans get ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ with up-close action, Perry pranced alongside her famous backup dancers on a thrust stage, as she belted out hit after hit including ‘Hot n Cold’, ‘Thinking of You’ and ‘Swish Swish’.

The night came to a crescendo as the opening chords of ‘Firework’ began to play and the audience counted down to midnight. Perry’s exceptional vocals joined a thrilling firework display for an incredible New Year’s memory that concert-goers would never forget.

Ensuring Perry was not the only star on the du Arena stage was this year’s Yasalam Emerging Talent Competition winner, Danny Aridi, who showcased his incredible vocal range at the Village stage, serenading a to a packed-out crowd in what was undoubtedly a career highlight for the young singer.
