UTOPIA exhibition: 01 April - 31 May
A champion for diversity within the creative sector, Studio Pi has partnered with Coal Drops Yard to unveil UTOPIA; a selection of ten powerful images by artists who aim to showcase a more inclusive and collaborative world. With an exhibition on Lower Stable Street, artists include Philipp Raheem, Alexis Tsegba, Brunel Johnson, Frieda Ruh, Chantel King, Daryl Rainbow, Martina Lang, Ngadi Smart, Eddie Blagbrough and Janice Chang.
Intbau: 21 – 27 May
The British Council, INTBAU, and partners are bringing together a group of 12 female architecture students from Pakistan, Bangladesh and the UK in an exciting project seeking to highlight the central role of women in the climate revolution. Students will build a bamboo structure enclosed with textile woven by weavers in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Scotland, and help to construct an earthen chulah, a traditional Pakistani cooking stove, with a group of female Pakistani artisans on Granary Square. Visitors can watch the construction of these two low carbon structures, based on Yasmeen Lari’s designs for vulnerable communities in rural Pakistan. The build will be complemented by an interactive programme of workshops, talks, live music, performances, and food demonstrations from 23 to 27 May.
Rolling Stones and Summer Festivals: June onwards
