Students of Dar Al-Hekma University have once again proved they are highly-qualified and creative in different fields, thanks to the combination of classroom-based theories and hands-on practice as well as the varied experience of Dar Al-Hekma faculty members.
Twenty-one commercial photography students from Dar Al-Hekma University’s Visual Communications Program have recently participated in Freeze Initiative, an experimental collaboration between the university and Lexus Abdulateef Jameel.
During the four-week initiatives, Dar Al-Hekma students came up with creative ideas revolving around the luxury car brand, using Takumi craftsmanship which focuses on perfection and masterful skills and attention to details by applying state-of-the-art and cutting-edge technology.
The mission of DAH students was to employ the freeze technique and take photographs on location and in the studio, while remaining true to the brand. All students excelled at this mission and added their creative touch and own imprint on the images they produced, which received the admiration of Lexus Abdulateef Jameel’s directors. The works of the students will be on display at Lexus Abdulateef Jameel exhibition until 31 March 2019. The winners of the prizes of the initiative are: Sahar Bahr, Sara Alaboud, Sarah Osta, Dalia Qadi and Sosan Sayed Mujtaba.
Dr. Suhair Al-Qurashi, President of Dar Al-Hekma University, said, “We are grateful to Lexus Abdulateef Jameel for the trust they have placed in our students and allowing some creative indulgence with the works produced. At Dar Al-Hekma we let our students apply their learning in a real-world setting and expose them to situations where they can unleash their creativity and put what they have learned into practice. All students produced creative and professional photographs which won them the respect of everyone.”
Dar Al-Hekma’s Visual Communication Department aims to develop students’ knowledge of design and image production through intensive workshops and multimedia computer labs, supported by photography studios. Students are exposed to all types and techniques of photography including commercial and advertising so that they can produce compelling and inspiring imagery and videos.
