Children’s Race of Samsung Amman Marathon Concludes

Under the Patronage of HRH Princess Dana Firas, The Children’s Race of the 9th Samsung Amman Marathon concluded on Friday, October 6th with the participation of more than 3,000 kid.

Samsung Amman Marathon which is held under the organization of Run Jordan and Amman Greater municipality, and the start of the race was announced by HRH Princess Dana Firas and H.E. Mayor of Amman, Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh, Samsung Electronics Levant delegate Mr. Rami Jarrar, and the judging committee of the Jordanian Athletics Federation.

Participating children ages ranged between 6 years and 14 years old, kicked off their race with a celebratory atmosphere, and ran for 2,800 meters within the King Hussein Park and finished the race at the starting point.

At the rewarding ceremony H.E. Yousef Shawarbeh with the presence of Samsung Electronics Levant delegate Mr. Rami Jarrar and Run Jordan General Manager Ms. Lina El Kurd, honored the winning children with trophies. Additionally Samsung presented the winning participants with valuable prizes. Participating children were segmented into three categories; 6 – 8 years old, 9 – 11 years old, and 12 – 14 years old segment.

The race results are:

Male: 12 - 14 years, 1st place: Khaled Al Masaeed (0:09:31), 2ndplace Abdel Rahman Al Abbadi (0:09:58), 3rd place Hamzeh Rahhal (0:10:05)

Male: 9 – 11 years, 1st place: Suleiman Abu Shabab (0:10:50), 2ndplace: Mahmoud Tmeizi (0:10:59), 3rd place: Diaa Al Jaarat (0:11:09)

Male: 6 – 8 years, 1st place: Obada Abu Athra (0:11:40), 2nd place: Hamzeh Al Jaarat (0:12:14), 3rd place: Ahmad Jaarat (0:12:40)

Female: 12 - 14 years, 1st place: Hiba Fuaad (0:10:24), 2nd place: Nusaiba Ishebat (0:10:55), 3rd place Ayat Mradad (0:11:17)

Female: 9-11 years, 1st place: Ikhlas Hussam (0:11:49), 2nd place: Salam Gharaybeh (0:13:04), 3rd place Ethar Habeeb (0:14:02)

Female: 6 – 8 years, 1st place: Malak Abu Salem (0:13:39), 2ndplace: Reem Abu Shabab (0:14:44) 3rd place: Razan Mahmoud (0:15:06)

Special Needs category, Down Syndrome: Males: Mohammad Muhaisen (0:28:04), Females: Salma Al Bitar (0:30:35)

Ms. Lina El Kurd congratulated all the participants and their parents on the success of the race on all levels; logistically and the organization process. Emphasizing on the importance of such activities for the children and their healthy lifestyle, and encouraging them to persevere and be competitive.

Ms. El Kurd also expressed Run Jordan’s enthusiasm to kick off the 9th Samsung Amman Marathon on October 13th; Amman’s biggest marathon of the year. The marathon will witness the participation of Jordanian and international professional runners, in addition to sports enthusiasts

The race will feature three races including a 42 km Full Marathon, starting from opposite Amman Municipality at Ras Al ‘Ein region at 6 am, a 21 km Half Marathon; which will kick off starting from Raghadan Bridge at 7:30 am, and a 10 km Fun Run which will start from the Sports City opposite Gate 1 at 9 am.
