Canon’s ‘Frontiers of Innovation Forum 2020’ to continue monthly following success

The Canon ‘Frontiers of Innovation Forum 2020’ online broadcast series, which launched during the height of the pandemic and lockdown, will continue airing on a monthly basis following its success and wide viewership. The series, which was launched on Canon EMEA’s LinkedIn starting from April, crossed 3,000 views per session across nine sessions.

The ‘Frontiers of Innovation 2020’ weekly broadcast series’ purpose was to unite industry and sector experts under one online platform to foster industry learning during the COVID-19 crisis. Discussing key evolving trends and the impact of the pandemic on individuals and economies, the online series explored how different sectors were preparing themselves for the post-Covid-19 recovery phase and how existing business strategies and operations will be modified.

Anurag Agrawal, Managing Director, Canon Middle East and Turkey, said: “As we prepared to launch the third edition of Frontiers of Innovation online, we were uncertain of the feedback, but we knew that we needed to foster new areas of collaboration and keep the channels of communication open with other businesses and industry experts. It was immediately evident that the series was a uniting platform for all to communicate, and gain insights and new learnings into critical topics that will impact and reshape future industries as we emerge from an unprecedented situation.”

“The series also complements GCC governments’ strategies to develop cultures of innovation, and Canon is actively supporting public and private sectors as they endeavour to find innovative solutions to the new ways of working that are currently being realised,” added Agarwal.

‘Frontiers of Innovation’ launched in 2016 as a forum to drive innovation and ideas, gain insights and experiences, and generate solutions. The first edition discussed big data and the Internet of Things; and the second edition focused on cyber security, entrepreneurship and smart cities – both editions were held as in-presence events over one day.

Moving online on a weekly basis opened up the platform to engage with everyone from industry stakeholders to the general public more frequently and in-depth. Several discussion topics were tackled in the first few weeks alone and an abundance of insights and trends were identified to facilitate the restructuring and recovery tactics for a variety of industries.

Moderated by Etithne Treanor, Founder & CEO, E Treanor Media, some of the topics that were covered include: The effect of Covid-19 on digital transformation; cybersecurity at home; the future of education; agility in the workforce; the future of communication; sustainability and energy consumption; photography and filmmaking trends during and post COVID-19; and the future of work.
