Canon launches new cameras in Morocco to address production challenges of filmmakers

Enabling filmmakers to tell their cinematic stories more effectively and creatively, Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA) a leader in imaging solutions, unveiled two cinema cameras at special event held in partnership with LTS Network in Ouarzazate Morocco.

As part of this launch, Canon hosted a filmmaking workshop and invited their partners and customers to Ouarzazate, considered as the 'Moroccan Hollywood' and equipping them with the Canon cameras, enabling them to experience the new technology and showcase their creativity.

Created with cinematographers and high-end broadcast production professionals in mind, the new cameras -  the EOS C700, regarded as the brand’s flagship and the EOS C200, perfect for a broad range of imaging professionals are reflective of Canon’s commitment in supporting filmmakers with industry-first technology.

“Through the launch of EOS C700 and C200, Canon is enabling filmmakers in the North Africa market to bring their stories to life in the most versatile manner possible. We want to expose them to the availability of a world-class portfolio of imaging solutions, ranging from cinema cameras to lenses including 4K technology, workflow solutions and even post production. The launch elevates the capabilities of filmmakers from Morocco, and help them leverage technologies that defines industry standards,” said Somesh Adukia, Sales and Marketing Director, B2C Canon Central and North Africa.

Africa is an incredibly important market to Canon and forms an integral part of our growth strategy in the region. It is expected that Africa’s GDP will grow by more than 6% in the next decade – double than the rest of the world, which is proof that big things will emerge from this mighty continent. “Besides bringing in advanced technology which cater to the cinema industry, our aim is to showcase how production houses can innovatively integrate our solutions in their setup without any hassle, to drive creativity. With locations such as Ouarzazate, Morocco’s film industry is perfectly poised for growth and Canon aims to be a partner in this growth.  We will work very closely with the filmmaking and broadcast industry along with production houses to demonstrate how Canon technology can be an integral part of creative workflow and help achieve outstanding content,” added Hassan Eddahbi, Managing Director – LTS Network.

Canon's new camera and the launch event is part of the company's new brand proposition that is aimed at cementing Canon as a storytelling brand, ensuring that every output from its entire ecosystem and product portfolio helps consumers to tell their story. Canon recently rolled out a new campaign - ‘Live for the story’ encouraging people to find special memories in all moments of their life, no matter where they are or what they are doing.

The DSLR technology pioneered by Canon has changed the motion picture industry and made it possible for the average person to shoot video with a tight budget. In addition, by using Canon DSLR cameras, independent filmmakers will only need a smaller crew when producing a film.

“Filmmakers in the region realize the potential of combining creativity with technology, and this camera does just that, right from feature films to documentaries and TV series. The demand for 4K quality requires uncompromising quality and with the EOS C700 and C200, we are setting the stage for a giant leap forward for the film fraternity,” said Ali Hasnaoui, Executive General Manager, LTS Network

With an all-new modular design aimed at high-end cinema production, the C700 brings an all new power and flexibility expected in the A-Camera market. Featuring a Super35mm sensor that shoots up-to 4.5K, numerous recording options, and an upcoming RAW update, the C700 promises superb image and build quality.

The EOS C200 is the first Cinema EOS camera to support the new RAW recording format. Offering exceptional creativity and flexibility, the camera is lightweight, comes with built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity and is perfect for a broad range of imaging professionals.
