The hospital joins hands with Pink Caravan to screen the people of Ras al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: In order to promote breast cancer awareness in the UAE, RAK Hospital has partnered with the UAE Pink Caravan and will assist them in organising a screening camp at the hospital premises this Thursday, February 28th. The camp will include free breast cancer screening and medical consultation for women, and the clinic will remain open from 10am till 5pm. During the camp, women will also be trained to screen their mothers, sisters and friends at home.
As per World Health Organisation statistics breasts cancer tops the list of cancer-related health issues prevalent in the UAE. In 2018, WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) found 1,054 cases of breast cancer in the UAE which was 22.4 percent of the total number of cancer cases.
Commenting on the screening, Dr Raza Siddiqui, CEO Arabian Healthcare Group and Executive Director of RAK Hospital said: “Given that breast cancer is a huge cause of concern in the country, we need to join hands and work together to help control and eliminate the disease. We feel honoured to be part of the Pink Caravan campaign and take pride in providing our services and human resource for the camp”.
