ALBAIK Sponsors 2ND Annual Football Tournament For Saudi Students

ALBAIK Food Systems has partnered with the Boston Volunteering Team, a Massachusetts-based organization of Saudi and Arab students in the US, to sponsor the Team’s 2nd annual Soccer Championship taking place in Boston from October 14 to November 25. The event, staged with the support of the Saudi Cultural Attaché, is aimed at promoting the importance of physical exercise, the need for developing a balanced lifestyle and fostering a sense of community among Saudi students in the US.

“The need for Saudi students to gather together while studying abroad, in order to reinforce a sense of community is very important,” commented Eng. Rami Abu Ghazalah, CEO of ALBAIK. “The Boston Volunteering Team has started a tradition that, in addition to fostering a sense of belonging, promotes the importance of physical health and leading a balanced lifestyle, all through that most favorite of Saudi activities: friendly football matches. It also stresses the importance of volunteerism as a civic obligation. These are all values that we support wholeheartedly, as we at ALBAIK embrace them as our own, as well. We are also thrilled to be part of an event that provides those studying abroad with a message of strong support from ‘back home’.”

The tournament, which is already underway, consists of a series of soccer matches involving teams of registered Saudi and other Arab university students in the US, aged 18 and up.

The Boston Volunteering Team was founded in 2013 by Saudi students studying in Boston, who shared the aspiration to promote the concept of volunteerism in activities aimed at serving the community. It was hoped that such activities would serve as an example to others in the US and to reinforce the sense of goodwill among Saudi students and with their host country. The BVT worked hard to develop a network of partners in the areas of social development, cultural events, education, health and well-being and environmental conservation. Through these partnerships, BVT has been able to achieve financial independence and has become a leader in various initiatives.
